The Virginia Office on Volunteerism and Community Services is proud to announce the 2016-17 AmeriCorps State Grantees. There are 20 programs this year located in throughout the Commonwealth focusing on community needs in education and youth, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, disaster services, and healthy futures. Additionally, there are four Volunteer Generation Fund programs. AmeriCorps National Direct programs and NCCC teams have also been deployed for the year.
We are excited to welcome Virginia newest AmeriCorps State program, CASA, which will serve the Northern Virginia community! CASA's mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in low-income immigrant communities.
Programs recently gathered in Richmond for three days of intensive training and networking (see below). 2016-17 Americorps Members will take the AmeriCorps Pledge for their service year at regional events throughout Virginia on October 7. Stay tuned!
