Celebrating AmeriCorps in Virginia
AmeriCorps Week is observed every year in an effort to recognize and thank the AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Alumni who have made volunteerism and service a lifestyle.
From March 8 through March 14, 2026, join us in a week-long celebration to honor a movement that has grown into a nationwide force for positive change and making a difference in so many lives.
Here are a few ways you can celebrate AmeriCorps Week:
- Participate in the "Day of the A". On Monday March 9, 2026, AmeriCorps members should sport their favorite AmeriCorps tee, take a cool pic, record a video, or write a post to show others how serving makes you feel and to share your national service pride.
- Join us for our Peak Volunteer Engagement Webinar. On Thursday, March 12, join colleagues across the state to learn how to leverage national service to strengthen your community initiatives. Click here to register.
- Share the impact of AmeriCorps. Follow Serve Virginia on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X to explore and re-share the Stories of Service from AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Alumni across Virginia. Follow #AmeriCorpsWeek for even more stories about the impacts of national service across the U.S.
- Be a part of the #AmeriThanks Social Media Storm. Join thousands of AmeriCorps supporters across the nation in saying "Thanks" to all the AmeriCorps Volunteers who lift up and build up their communities. You can download the official AmeriCorps Toolkit to find #AmeriThanks Social Storm social media tags and graphics and share your post on March 13 at noon ET.
- Join the Virginia AmeriCorps Alumni Network! At Serve Virginia we're looking to foster greater connections between AmeriCorps alumni in Virginia and grow a system which can lead to professional development opportunities, collaboration for the good of our communities, and strong social ties within our national service family. Join the Alumni Network and then also join our LinkedIn Alumni Group.
- Subscribe to the AmeriFamily Newsletter. This quarterly newsletter is for AmeriCorps members, program staff, alumni and individuals interested in national service in Virginia. AmeriCorps is the largest funder of national service in the country, with most of these federal funds passing through state service commissions, like Serve Virginia, that oversee state and local funding to make a tangible impact on education, environmental stewardship, public safety, health, and economic opportunity.
