A new Request for Applications (RFA) for 2025-2026 AmeriCorps State programs will be available on January 2, 2025, launching the application period for this grant cycle for planning and operational grants. AmeriCorps funding is a way to support your organization's work in addressing tangible needs and delivering direct services.
AmeriCorps planning grants provide resources, technical assistance, and support to develop the framework for an AmeriCorps program to propose for a subsequent operational grant. Awards range from $75,000 to $240,000 to cover the costs and staff time needed to design an AmeriCorps program. Planning grants do not support costs associated with AmeriCorps members in service.
AmeriCorps operational grants support programs that engage members in evidence-based interventions to strengthen communities. Awards may include up to $27,000/MSY (AmeriCorps Member Service Year, equivalent to one full-time term of service), with no limits on the number of MSY.
Serve Virginia accepts applications for AmeriCorps grants from faith-based organizations, community organizations, higher education institutions, and public agencies in the Commonwealth.
This is your chance to design a service program that engages AmeriCorps members in meaningful direct service activities to meet critical community needs in specific focus areas!
For organizations that plan to submit an application, please plan to join us for the optional preapplication call on January 16, 2025, from 1:00pm-3:00pm ET. Instructions to register will be included in the RFA.
Please note: Once the RFA is released, Serve Virginia staff will be unable to provide support to individual applicants.
If you're interested in hosting AmeriCorps members at your organization but unsure if you're ready to plan and implement your own AmeriCorps State program, consider becoming an AmeriCorps VISTA host site through the Serve Virginia Capacity Building Project.
The Serve Virginia Capacity Building Project is managed by Serve Virginia within the Virginia Department of Social Services and places VISTA members across the state with organizations, agencies, and institutions looking to make sustainable change in areas that impact poverty.
Learn more about how your organization can benefit from becoming an AmeriCorps VISTA host site in a free pre-application info session on February 19, 2025. Contact Sasha Bronder at sasha.bronder@dss.virginia.gov to register or to discuss whether AmeriCorps VISTA is right for your organization!
