Serve Virginia today announced more than two hundred honorees across Virginia who are included in the Winter 2025 Serve Virginia Honor Roll, celebrating exceptional volunteer efforts and community service. Twice a year, the Serve Virginia Honor Roll celebrates the valuable contributions of volunteers in Virginia. Volunteers and organizations recognized on the Honor Roll are serving throughout the Commonwealth and their ability to help meet needs in communities is often enabled by a strong system of supporting organizations.

The Winter 2025 Serve Virginia Honor Roll includes 218 volunteers and organizations that were submitted for recognition, including nominees for the 2024 Governor’s Volunteerism & Community Service Awards as well as honorees recognized by the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce, the Governor's Advisory Board on Service & Volunteerism, the Leadership Center of Arlington, and the University of Richmond Bonner Center for Civic Engagement.
In recognition of the service provided by more than 2.2 million Virginians each year, the bi-annual Serve Virginia Honor Roll spotlights volunteers and organizations serving their communities, promoting quality of life, and creating lasting impacts. Recent research from the U.S. Census Bureau and AmeriCorps shows that Virginians contributed 156,828,696 hours of formal volunteer service in 2023, worth an estimated $5.2 billion. In addition, the Commonwealth’s informal volunteering rate increased 7.3 percentage points—the second highest state increase in informal volunteering nationwide.
“The Serve Virginia Honor Roll is a unique opportunity for volunteers across the Commonwealth to be recognized at a state level for their generosity of time and spirit,” said Kathy J. Spangler, Director of Serve Virginia. “With gratitude for their service, we offer this biannual recognition as a way to celebrate remarkable local volunteers and inspire others to get involved in their communities.”
