AmeriCorps VISTA is a full-time national service program for organizations interested in developing lasting solutions to address poverty. Nonprofit organizations, Native American Tribes, and state, city, and local government agencies are eligible to be AmeriCorps VISTA sponsors. Proposed projects should focus on one or more of the following four CNCS focus areas: 1) Economic Opportunity, 2) Education, 3) Healthy Futures, or 4) Veterans and Military Families.
AmeriCorps VISTA members are placed with a sponsor organization to develop and expand services and programs that help lift low-income individuals out of poverty. Their work is concentrated on building the capacity of the organization and community. Each year, over 800 organizations host more than 8,000 AmeriCorps VISTA members. As a sponsor organization, you will have the opportunity to support one or more AmeriCorps VISTA members to focus on anti-poverty and capacity building efforts to improve your organization and community.
Please review the Fiscal Year 2020 Request for Concept Papers Notice and Timeline, which provide further details about the program and the next steps.
If you have questions or need technical assistance when completing the concept paper, you may contact your CNCS Field Office. Please share this announcement with other organizations in your network that conduct anti-poverty work.
