Last year, 3,539 elected officials representing more than 178 million citizens participated in the fourth-annual Mayor and County Day. One of the ways national service is making an huge impact on communities is through the Employers of National Service Initiative. Virginia is one of the first states to be named a statewide Employer of National Service and, on a local level, supporting this program will allow communities to have new access to AmeriCorps alums as a dedicated, highly qualified, and mission-oriented pool of potential employees.
