Virginia AmeriCorps Program Officers Joy Wade and Roxanne Saunders traveled to Raleigh, NC, July 1-2, to attend and present at the North Carolina AmeriCorps Commission’s 2017-18 Program Directors Start-Up Training. The pair had the opportunity to get to know North Carolina AmeriCorps Commission staff and 2017-18 AmeriCorps Sub-grantees Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, Joy presented a 90-minute training session on “AmeriCorps Grants Management” and Roxanne presented a 90-minute training session on “AmeriCorps Fiscal Budget Management.” Following the AmeriCorps training sessions, Roxanne and Joy were invited to have lunch at the Governor’s Mansion along with the NC AmeriCorps Commission and their 2017-18 AmeriCorps Program. Several NC program directors commented to Joy and Roxanne that these training sessions were “by far the most enlightening and instructive AmeriCorps training they have ever had.”
