Serve Virginia announced AmeriCorps grants to support 23 organizations across the Commonwealth in meeting the pressing needs of communities in the coming year, representing a total investment of more than $6.7 million. AmeriCorps is the largest funder of national service in the country, matching organizations with individuals in order to address pressing challenges impacting communities. Serve Virginia coordinates the annual grant funding.
“Through its unique public-private partnership, AmeriCorps offers a critical mechanism for leveraging federal funding to meet community needs, benefitting communities across Virginia,” said Serve Virginia Director Kathy J. Spangler. As part of this, $4.7 million in operational funding has been granted to 12 organizations to support AmeriCorps program implementation:
