As part of
AmeriCorps Week 2025, we invite all AmeriCorps members and alumni to join us on Wednesday, March 12 for two events:
Expanding your Impact through Nonprofit Board Service
March 12, 3:00-4:00pm ET, Virtual Event

Join other AmeriCorps alumni and members from across Virginia to
learn about what it means to serve on a nonprofit board and what the first steps to getting involved are. The workshop presenter will be
Myra Smith, President/CEO of
Leadership Metro Richmond, the community leadership development and engagement organization for the Greater Richmond area.
Please register for the event here.
Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR) is the greater Richmond region's only community leadership development organization. It connects diverse leaders, broadens their understanding of regional issues, and equips them with tools to make a greater impact. LMR also offers programs to connect individuals with nonprofit board service opportunities and enhance their governance and facilitation skills. For more, visit www.lmronline.org.
Richmond Area Group Volunteer Project
March 12, 5:30-7:00pm ET at the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond (3409 West Moore Street, Richmond)
For the first (of hopefully many) group volunteer projects, we're working on a DIY project to support
Housing Families First who are looking for a few
different pre-packaged supply kits. Serve Virginia will provide the supplies for us to work together to pack them up and donate them. The
Community Foundation for a greater Richmond has been generous to offer us a space for this in the evening, so
please come by and help, even if it's only for 30 minutes! This will be family-friendly, children and partners are welcome to join.
Please sign up here so we can get a head count. Stay tuned for more details about our next in-person AmeriCorps Alumni engagement event, coming soon to another region of Virginia!
