The 2021 winner is Kathy Morton.
"Kathy's dedication to our Volunteer Program has been evident since she started overseeing it in 2006. We average approximately 500 volunteers with 33,000 hours of volunteer service each year and this is all overseen by Kathy. The list of programs that she not only oversees but has also turned into successes include: Volunteer Recognition program, our Summer Teen program, our Intern program, Partnership for the Future, our New Community School partnership, Salvation Army partnership - all of which are in addition to the general volunteer needs of our community." - Whitney Woodruff, Manger Life Enrichment
The Rising Star Award recognizes outstanding members with less than two years of experience in the field of volunteer administration. The 2021 honoree is Jeff Lippy.
"Jeff left a job in corporate America in January 2020 to accept the position of Volunteer Manager at Richmond Animal League. With a passion for helping pets in need along with the skills and interest in engaging with people, Jeff took his first position in nonprofits and volunteer engagement at an organization with over 600 volunteers each year. Those volunteers served 33,685 hours in 2019, the equivalent of 16 full-time staff. RAL only had 15 full-time paid staff. The volunteers doubled the manpower and ability to save lives. These volunteers perform essential duties in the shelter, clinic, administration and in the community. Jeff was taking on a big role, but he was up for it. " - Elizabeth Thomas, Executive Director, RAL
