A coalition of 44 organizations across the River Counties region, Volunteer River Counties is celebrating its launch as the first-ever volunteer hub in the region, connecting people in Lancaster, Middlesex, and Northumberland counties with local volunteer opportunities. The online hub will improve the accessibility of volunteer opportunities and enhance regional organizations’ ability to recruit volunteers of all ages.

Throughout September, Volunteer River Counties anchor partners will celebrate the hub’s launch with special events, unique volunteer opportunities, and other ways to get involved and give back. “As a community member, I am thrilled to join with Volunteer River Counties anchor partners in launching Volunteer River Counties this month. This hub has the potential to change the way we volunteer in the River Counties, for the better, and we welcome all our neighbors aboard as we undertake this exciting new journey,” says Serve Virginia director Kathy J. Spangler.

Volunteer River Counties was initiated through planning efforts led by Serve Virginia, the Virginia Service Foundation, and the River Counties Community Foundation, with funding from the Robert B. Lantz Foundation.
