Since that time, she has worked in state government in variety of grants administration positions in the fields of higher education, homeland security, social services and the environment. Most recently, she was employed as the grants administration manager for Workforce Development Services at the Virginia Community College System assigning and supervising the work of staff administering more than $70 million in federal pass-through funding from the U.S. Department of Labor.
Shannon enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, particularly engaging in retail therapy with her teenage daughter, Colette, on an endless search for vintage, early 1960s items.
Samantha joined the OVCS as an AmeriCorps Program Officer mid-July 2019. She is originally from South Jersey and graduated in 2009 from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA with a B.S. in Environmental Science. In April 2010 she served her first year of AmeriCorps VISTA in Lee County, VA through the Appalachian Coal County Watershed Team at the Daniel Boone Soil and Water Conservation District. From 2011 – 2014 she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA Leader in Roanoke, VA at The Advancement Foundation before being hired as staff to start and run an AmeriCorps State program at the organization.
For the last two years, Samantha has been living in Raleigh, NC working with the City of Raleigh running a program in the Community Engagement Division of the Housing & Neighborhoods Department called Volunteer Raleigh. She’s happy to be back in Virginia and lives with her two cats, Bae and Sophie. In her spare time, she likes to watch reality TV and take short road trips around Virginia to find the LOVE signs.
