Shannon recently joined the Virginia Office on Volunteerism and Community Services as Fiscal Officer for the AmeriCorps team. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in government from the College of William and Mary and a master's of public administration (MPA) from Virginia Commonwealth University. She holds a Virginia Contracting Associate certification, is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and currently serves on the board of directors for a nonprofit organization serving homeless individuals in Henrico County.
She began working in grants administration in the affordable housing and homeless services arena at the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development in 1993. Since that time, she has worked in state government in variety of grants administration positions in the fields of higher education, homeland security, social services and the environment. Most recently, she was employed as the grants administration manager for Workforce Development Services at the Virginia Community College System assigning and supervising the work of staff administering more than $70 million in federal pass-through funding from the U.S. Department of Labor.
Shannon enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, particularly engaging in retail therapy with her teenage daughter, Colette, on an endless search for vintage, early 1960s items.
