Adrienne Knox served eight consecutive years as a South Anna PTA board member, carrying the weight of maintaining a functional and successful PTA and helping ensure continuity from year to year. Her dedication to her community is apparent in her warmth and problem-solving abilities to make every person in her community feel heard. Her loyalty and dedication to the South Anna PTA has not only kept it afloat for an entire generation of Spirit Riders, but has allowed it to flourish as well.
Adrienne does not approach situations as problems, but as opportunities to improve. Being extremely organized allows her to use those skills to adapt quickly and thoroughly to any challenge or task. She also has an uncanny ability to remember folks, making everyone know they are an important an integral part of the South Anna community. She knows in order for volunteer participation to increase, the PTA must first make everyone feel comfortable and valued enough to want to give back to the community.
As she prepared to leave the PTA, she successfully recruited a new generation of board members to fulfill the many roles she had been performing for years prior. By staying on the board as Treasurer, Adrienne helped mentor and nourish the roles of the next eager leaders in the South Anna community. After her time on the board ended, Adrienne committed to heading up South Anna’s Helping Hands committee, even though she no longer had children at the school. She also helped re-launch the PTA at Patrick Henry High School after it had gone inactive and currently serves as their Treasurer. She is also active in Patrick Henry’s food pantry and clothing closet. When others have said no, Adrienne will step up and say yes.
