As founder of Becoming a Voice, Shriya Boppana is a sex trafficking and sexual health education advocate. She holds sexual health education workshops in orphanages, schools, and extracurricular youth organizations to educate young children about safe and unsafe touch in Fairfax County Public Schools as well as in her home state of Andhra Pradesh in India. She also serves on the Virginia, D.C., and Maryland Human Trafficking Task Forces working with the U.S. Department of Justice and local law enforcement groups to identify trafficking schemes, extract victims, and integrate them back into society. Kathy Rohacek is a member of the Spinners & Weavers Guild at the Northern Neck Heritage Arts Center, located inside the nonprofit historic landmark known as Rice's Hotel / Hughlett's Tavern in Heathsville. The guild's wares are sold in the gift shoppe and all proceeds benefit the upkeep of the 300-year-old Tavern building. When Kathy first moved to the Northern Neck, she joined the guild as a volunteer because of her love of weaving. But Kathy does so much more. We Serve, the service club at Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia, works in partnership with the Rockingham Rotary Club as an interact club. Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
