Nicole Ambrose is a dedicated volunteer at the Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society, providing support throughout the year to plan the museum’s school programming to meet SOL standards.
Nicole says, “As an 11th grade history teacher, I always looked for opportunities to incorporate local and state history into my lesson plans. That’s why the Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society is a blessing; the staff goes above and beyond to deliver quality lessons and hands-on activities for the students. Every couple of months I would walk my classes up the street, and the museum staff would greet us with incredibly engaging material. The students loved it and were always asking when we would be going on our next field trip. This museum is a gem.”
She continues, “For a small space, it packs in amazing artifacts, and the displays are always changing. This museum does especially well at representing African American history in the county. The staff has a strong connection with the community, which invites people to come forth with their family stories, pictures, and treasures. The students appreciate this aspect the most and are always inspired to learn about their families through the generations.”
