Founded in 1930, Publix Super Markets operates 24 stores across Virginia and more than 1,425 locations throughout the Southeast. Deeply committed to addressing food insecurity, Publix partners with local Feeding America food banks and nonprofits to ensure that safe, unsalable food reaches people in need. Between July 2024 and June 2025, Publix stores in Virginia donated over 4.5 million pounds of food, contributing to more than 1 billion pounds donated companywide since 2009.
Publix’s Good Together Hunger Alleviation Campaign and Publix Serves volunteer program extend this impact, engaging associates and customers in service projects that fight hunger, deliver fresh produce, and support community well-being. In Virginia, nearly 100 associates participated in five volunteer events, including meal packaging for home-bound seniors and mobile pantry support. Publix’s leadership also responds proactively to emergencies, such as donating water during the January 2025 winter storm in central Virginia, helping thousands of residents access safe water.
Beyond immediate relief, Publix empowers communities through local store development, creating jobs, and fostering lasting
partnerships with food banks, including Feed More, Fredericksburg Regional Foodbank, and Feeding Southwest Virginia. Through consistent service, disaster response, and proactive hunger alleviation, Publix demonstrates how a business can sustainably and meaningfully impact the communities it serves. Their dedication nourishes neighbors, strengthens families, and builds resilient, thriving communities across Virginia.
