Tori Fultz is a
first-year college adviser with Virginia College Advising Corps (VCAC). She discovered AmeriCorps while she was a student at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise (UVA Wise). She recalls, “I am a UVA Wise alum and I always wanted to pursue a career in higher education through the university. I quickly discovered the college adviser position on their website, and it sounded like something I would love, so I applied, and here I am!
While I am still very new to VCAC, that hasn’t stopped me from having memorable experiences already. Thus far, I really enjoyed my first in-person training in Charlottesville this past January. My favorite memory has to be when me and my colleagues decided to eat an entire rotisserie chicken in the car on our way to Charlottesville!”
Offering advice for others considering AmeriCorps service, Tori says, “I would say just give it a try and be confident! I was unsure if I would be a good fit at first, but after I got into the position and served, I am beyond grateful that I am here.“
