Congratulations to Doswell Limited Partnership of Ashland – winner of the 2021 Governor’s Volunteerism and Community Service Award for Outstanding Small Business! Doswell Limited Partnership (DLP) recognizes the fact that residents of Hanover County can benefit in many ways from their position in the community and their access to resources. DLP, an affiliate of LS Power and owner of the Doswell natural gas power generation facility located in Ashland, employs 32 individuals and is capable of providing energy to meet the needs of more than1.2 million area homes in the Commonwealth of Virginia. DLP has made a commitment to supporting services that make a lasting impact, whether it is lives brightened by funding home delivered meals or collecting toys to brighten the holiday season.

One of their largest long-term commitments has been to provide services for the road to greater independence or recovery from substance addictions. DLP has offered a great deal of financial and volunteer assistance to the county’s Day Health Program and Raft House (facilities for individuals with mental health, substance use and developmental disabilities). This has included making the buildings safer, soothing and calming; creating outside amenities; and providing new appliances and furnishings.

Recently, they provide more than half the funds for an extensive nature walking trail in Hanover County. The funds helped to construct observation decks and benches which allow visitors to explore the wonder of nature in a pristine setting. They also have provided financial support and volunteer assistance Hanover Safe Place, Hanover Schools (STEM and music programs),Hanover Sheriff’s Office Toys for Tots, and the Special Olympics– just to name a few! Additionally, DLP has supported organizations in various parts of the region as well.

Doswell Limited Partnership exemplifies strong community values and a sustained commitment to supporting the community. The work and resources provided by this company have been provided with no public awareness. For this reason, it is evident that serving others is a core value and should be highlighted as a positive example for other small businesses.
